Kroc Center Partnership
There are two after-school activities at NES sponsored by the Kroc Center. The school is very fortunate to be able to partner with the Kroc Center in providing these valuable classes after school for students who are interested in having a safe, positive, fun, and educational place to go after school.
SCRABBLE
NES Students meet after school on Thursdays from 2:30 to 3:30 to challenge each other in friendly competitions of the Scrabble game. BusyTeacher.Org promotes the following reasons to promote Scrabble for learning:
- Learning new vocabulary
- Spelling practice
- Becoming familiar with common letter pairings in English
- Building math fluency by keeping score
- Getting to use a dictionary
- Having fun
STRINGS
NES Students meet after school on Tuesdays from 2:30 to 3:30 to work on learning the violin. Under the direction of a talented (and very patient) music instructor, all students get to experience the joy of making music and improving their skills over the course of the year. In years past, public performances have been scheduled for NES students who are part of the Strings Class to demonstrate their violin-playing skills.
THANK YOU, KROC CENTER!
